CTL Logistics confirms the implementation of its green commitments — by 2025, all traction energy used by the carrier will come from 100% renewable energy sources (RES). This is the result of a multi-year agreement with PGE Energetyka Kolejowa (then: PKP Energetyka) concluded under the Zielona Kolej® programme.
On the basis of the agreement, the implementation of which already began in 2022, CTL Logistics has gradually increased the share of renewable energy:
• 25% in 2022,
• 50% in 2023,
• and 100% from 2025.
In 2025, CTL Logistics will use 35,200 MWh of traction energy from RES, that will allow to:
✅ Reduce carbon footprint to 0.0 CO₂t/MWh,
✅ Reduce CO₂ emissions by 18,691 tonnes.
Responsible business for informed customers
Green energy is not only an environmental benefit, but also a response to increasing customer demands.
“More and more socially conscious and responsible companies are looking for solutions to help them reduce their carbon footprint in the supply chain. Our cooperation with PGE Energetyka Kolejowa within the framework of the Zielona Kolej® programme allows us not only to meet these expectations, but also to actively support the energy transformation of the rail transport sector, while significantly reducing CO₂ emissions and promoting better air quality for all of us,"
- comments Krzysztof Pietrzyk, Board Member for Trade and Development of CTL Logistics.
Zielona Kolej® - what is it?
Zielona Kolej® is an industry-wide programme, coordinated by PGE Energetyka Kolejowa (formerly PKP Energetyka), which supports rail operators in the transition to fully renewable energy sources. As part of this initiative, CTL Logistics has entered into a multi-year contract valid until 2030, with the possibility of extension until 2033.
Our commitment to the future
At CTL Logistics, we believe that sustainability is the key to the future. Thanks to our actions, rail transport is becoming greener, more competitive and environmentally friendly🌱.
