Sławomir Rzepecki, President of the Management Board of CTL Maczki-Bór: "

Our company conducts recultivation of post-sand headings using materials of mineral origin. The goal of this activity is to gradually restore the functionality of post-mining land to use, in accordance with the local spatial development plan. In addition to strictly business activities with the revitalization of post-mining areas, we join some initiatives related to the environmental protection. At the end of 2019, we started a cooperation with the Upper Silesian-Zagłębie Metropolis in Katowice in the area of new cycling routes. Now there are swallows in our area, which of course is a kind of challenge for our business. It is necessary to modify our activities to ensure effective protection for these rare birds. We stay in touch with the Regional Directorate for Environmental Protection in Katowice so as to jointly develop solutions that serve the environment and not restrict our business - such solutions are already ready and successively implemented. We always conduct our core business in compliance with environmental protection regulations, now we will also do everything to make Bank swallow survive, which is protected by Polish law."

The escarpments that have arisen as a result of exploitation at CTL Maczki-Bór in Sosnowiec will not be affected during the breeding season so as to allow their settlement and breeding. On the other hand, the escarpments planned for exploitation during the breeding season of birds will be shaped in a way preventing birds from settling.
In addition, by commencing mining operations between 1st May and 31st August the Company will each time inspect the emerging escarpments for their colonization by birds. In the event of the presence of burrows or breeding colonies, the work schedule will be adapted to allow breeding on time.
